It may not see the light of day for awhile but a film version based on the classic is Sega video game character “Sonic the Hedgehog” is being developed by Paramount Pictures [after Sony allowed their film rights on the character to lapse].
Sega launched their game in 1991, featuring a hedgehog named Sonic and his quest to defeat Doctor Robotnik, a scientist who imprisoned animals in robots and stolen magical Chaos Emeralds – and it eventually sold 360 million copies.
This will be the first film adaptation for Sonic and it is currently a live-action /CGI animation combination that is currently scheduled for a 2019 release date.
